Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose and create individualized treatment plans for patients with communication and swallowing disorders
- Deliver evidence-based speech, language and dysphagia interventions with empathy and clinical excellence
- Collaborate closely with nurses, therapists and family members to ensure coordinated care and meaningful outcomes
- Document progress clearly and timely, using facility systems to support continuity of care
- Provide training and education to caregivers and staff to maximize functional gains and safety
- Participate in team meetings and discharge planning to optimize patient transitions and follow-up
Qualifications
- Active California Speech-Language Pathology license or eligibility to obtain one
- Master's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or eligible
- Clinical experience in adult/geriatric rehab, skilled nursing or inpatient therapy settings preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
- Clear background check, TB screening and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong assessment and treatment planning skills for speech, language and swallowing disorders
- Comfortable with dysphagia management and modified barium swallow recommendations
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Skilled in documentation, goal writing and outcome tracking
- Ability to adapt therapy approaches to varied patient needs and cognitive levels
