Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents to support dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and timely according to facility procedures
• Help create a warm, home-like environment through respectful and person-centered interactions
• Assist with meal service and ensure residents' dietary needs and preferences are communicated

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent credential
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable assisting with personal care and mobility; ability to stand and lift as required
• Pass a standard background check and meet facility immunization requirements
• Positive attitude, strong teamwork, and excellent communication with residents and families

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (required or preferred depending on facility)

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and elder-focused communication
• Basic infection control and safety practices
• Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
• Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Familiarity with documentation best practices; basic EMR comfort is a plus
• Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience with older adults
