Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating nights (12-hour), 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule includes every-other-weekend coverage and is department-driven (no block scheduling). Night shift, with flexibility to float to different ED sections (no floating outside the ED).
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $51 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for a high-volume ED, including trauma and stroke patients
- Assess, triage and prioritize patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Perform and manage procedures common to the ED and support high-acuity care when needed
- Document patient care thoroughly in Cerner to ensure continuity and compliance
- Operate and monitor equipment such as Baxter pumps and GE monitors to ensure safe therapy
- Coach and mentor colleagues in real time; give and receive feedback to improve team performance
- Collaborate with techs, unit clerks and the interdisciplinary team to support smooth unit operations
- Deliver excellent patient experience using AIDET and maintain boards and communications throughout the visit
- Adhere to unit policies, attendance expectations, and the required uniform (navy scrubs)
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice (required)
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ER setting
- Preferred: 2 years’ experience in a Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits); prior HCA experience is a plus
- Required certifications before start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
- ENPC to be completed within 90 days of hire
- Strong teamwork mentality, ability to coach and provide real-time feedback, and flexibility to work all areas of the ED
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in emergency and trauma nursing best practices, including stroke care pathways
- Proficient with Cerner documentation systems
- Experience with Baxter infusion pumps and GE cardiac monitors
- Triage, cardiac monitoring and management of behavioral-hold patients in the ED
- Comfort working in a very high-volume environment with typical patient ratios (about 4:1 medical; up to 7:1 on behavioral holds)
- Excellent communication, patient-experience focus (AIDET), and team coordination skills
