Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care to adult patients
• Administer medications and supportive therapies safely, following local protocols and standards
• Perform thorough assessments and monitor patients closely during overnight hours
• Document patient care accurately and promptly in the Cerner EMR
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams to create clear, patient-centered plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Triage changes in condition and escalate concerns to providers as needed
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and maintain unit standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (experience in oncology or med-surgical preferred)
• BLS certification (required)
• Chemo certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and covering scheduled weekends
• Current immunizations and travel assignment credentialing completed prior to start

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of oncology and med-surgical nursing care
• Familiarity with chemotherapy handling and safety protocols (if certified)
• Proficient documentation in Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Skilled in IV therapy, patient assessment, and recognizing clinical deterioration
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced unit
• Ability to manage patient ratios typically around 1:4 or 1:5
• Adaptability to float occasionally to other med-surg units
