Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert respiratory care and treatments for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, asthma, pneumonia, and COPD
- Manage and set advanced ventilators (Servo I, Hamilton) and noninvasive support (V60, Astral, CPAP/BiPAP)
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and make timely clinical adjustments
- Perform airway management and emergency respiratory interventions confidently
- Document care promptly and accurately in the EMR (Meditech)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in unit procedures and maintain equipment readiness, including nebulizers and CPT
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
- Minimum 2 years of current acute care hospital RRT experience (explicit requirement)
- Experience with ventilator management and ABG interpretation
- Meditech EMR experience preferred by the director
- Trauma experience highly desired
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and troubleshooting (Servo I, Hamilton and similar devices)
- CPAP/BiPAP setup and titration
- ABG sampling and interpretation for clinical decision-making
- Proficiency with Meditech or similar EMR charting
- Strong critical thinking, teamwork, and patient-focused bedside care
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple procedures per shift
