Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to older adults, helping with bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Assist with meal service and feeding while monitoring intake and dietary needs
- Take and record vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff promptly
- Support residents with safe transfers and use of assistive devices
- Maintain accurate and respectful documentation of resident care
- Help create a warm, home-like environment that promotes dignity and independence
- Communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team and residents' families
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (or state equivalent); CNA certification accepted where applicable
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, and immunization requirements
- Strong communication skills and a positive, patient-focused attitude
- Comfortable assisting with mobility and personal care tasks
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a state-recognized GNA program or equivalent certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic resident care techniques and safe transfer practices
- Understanding of infection control and hand hygiene standards
- Ability to take vital signs and recognize common changes in geriatric patients
- Good documentation and time management skills
- Compassionate approach to dementia care and behavioral changes
- Teamwork, adaptability, and clear communication with residents and staff
