Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care to ICU patients, including ventilated and post-operative cardiac patients
• Manage ventilators and perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring to keep patients stable
• Deliver specialized post-CABG, CVICU and transplant care when needed
• Collaborate closely with intensivists, respiratory therapists and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Perform thorough bedside shift reports and maintain clear, patient-centered communication
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Meditech and uphold unit policies
• Assist with unit floating as required and support team morale in a high-acuity environment
• Practice infection control, safety protocols and professional conduct at all times

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience (CVICU/heart transplant experience strongly preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certification required; current CPR certification
• Strong experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Comfortable caring for post-CABG patients and other high-acuity cardiac cases
• Meditech experience preferred; ability to document accurately
• Professional bedside manner and commitment to unit standards (bedside shift report required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and best practices
• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive medications
• Postoperative cardiac care (post-CABG) and familiarity with transplant/ECMO cases
• Meditech charting and clinical documentation
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization and multitasking in high-acuity settings
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient-centered bedside reporting
• Ability to adapt to floating and changing unit assignments
