Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced ED
- Triage and prioritize patients effectively, using evidence-based triage principles and NIHSS when applicable
- Quickly assess, stabilize and coordinate care for trauma and stroke patients in a Level 2 trauma / comprehensive stroke center environment
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity of care and compliance
- Operate and troubleshoot unit equipment such as Baxter infusion pumps and GE monitors
- Coach and give real-time feedback to peers and support staff to promote team growth and patient safety
- Deliver an exceptional patient experience using AIDET principles and clear communication throughout the visit
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage high-volume workflow and maintain appropriate patient ratios
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years nursing experience, including at least 1 year in an Emergency Room setting
- Required certifications before start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
- ENPC required within 90 days of hire
- Experience in Level 2 trauma centers, comprehensive stroke centers and high-volume EDs (>100,000 visits) is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated teamwork mentality and ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
- Willingness to work every other weekend and float within ED sections
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency triage and rapid assessment skills
- Trauma and stroke care protocols and interventions
- Proficient documentation in Cerner
- Experience with Baxter infusion pumps and GE cardiac/monitoring systems
- Ability to manage high patient volumes and variable patient ratios
- Strong communication, patient experience (AIDET) and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
