Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based speech and language assessments to evaluate communication needs
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans that drive measurable progress
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, OT, nursing, and family members
- Document clinical findings, progress, and discharge planning in a timely, professional manner
- Deliver dysphagia screenings and manage safe swallowing programs as appropriate
- Educate patients, families, and staff to support carryover and maximize outcomes
Qualifications
- Current state license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist, or ability to obtain California licensure promptly
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Experience working with adult/rehabilitation populations, including dysphagia management
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Active professional liability insurance or ability to obtain coverage for travel assignments
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field required
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in evaluation and treatment of speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders
- Proficient with individualized treatment planning and measurable goal-setting
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies
- Comfortable using electronic health records for documentation
- Excellent communication and patient education skills, with a compassionate bedside manner
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary rehab team
