Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity maternal and newborn care in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery unit
• Monitor fetal status and maternal well-being, responding quickly to changes in condition
• Assist and circulate for C-sections and support OR workflows when called upon
• Manage IV therapies including magnesium drips and other high-acuity interventions
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Meditech
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiology, NICU and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate seamless care
• Support triage and assessment in OB triage rooms and contribute to excellent patient experience

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Virginia or compact licensure as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications required
• Experience with Meditech documentation
• Comfortable assisting or circulating in C-sections and managing high-acuity maternal/newborn cases
• Ability to float within the women’s and children’s service line
• AWOHHN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate certification preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring and intrapartum assessment skills
• Experience with C-section workflows, epidurals and spinals
• IV therapy expertise, including management of magnesium drips
• Familiarity with Level III NICU interactions and high-acuity transfer processes
• Meditech clinical documentation proficiency
• Comfort working in busy LDR environments and triage rooms
• Team communication and crisis resource management
