Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, and the OR team to coordinate procedures
- Prepare and maintain sterile field and ensure instrument readiness
- Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative process and respond to changes
- Document nursing care and perioperative findings accurately and timely
- Participate in competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical excellence
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Oregon license or applicable compact licensure)
- BLS certification (required)
- Previous operating room (OR) experience preferred
- Successful completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Skills Checklist as required
- Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, drug screen, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, COVID-19), influenza vaccine, and TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Willingness to complete license/certificate verification and facility onboarding requirements
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong perioperative nursing knowledge and sterile technique
- Proficiency with OR workflow, instrument handling, and turnover procedures
- Effective communication and teamwork in high-stakes environments
- Clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills
- Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation
- Ability to follow facility-specific competency programs and checklists
