Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility to promote independence and comfort
- Provide compassionate support during meals, feeding assistance, and mealtime supervision
- Monitor and record vital signs, behaviors, and changes in condition accurately and promptly
- Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment for residents, adhering to infection control practices
- Communicate effectively with nurses, family members, and the care team to support coordinated care
- Support meaningful engagement and social interaction through activities and companionship
- Follow care plans and report observations that contribute to resident-centered care planning
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification in the state of Maryland (or equivalent state certification) required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations is a plus
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility immunization requirements
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered attitude
- Reliable transportation and ability to arrive for scheduled shifts
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited GNA program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and supporting mobility
- Basic knowledge of infection control and safe patient handling
- Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with resident rights, dignity, and elder care best practices
- Team-oriented mindset and good time management during busy shifts
- Basic electronic charting or paper charting skills preferred
