Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care in a Level 2 trauma, high-volume ED
- Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care and improve outcomes
- Manage patient assignments with appropriate ratios and ensure safe monitoring
- Document thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner to maintain clear clinical records
- Coach and support teammates in real time, delivering constructive feedback
- Collaborate with techs, unit clerks, and the care team to streamline patient flow
- Follow AIDET and patient experience standards to keep patients informed and respected
- Adapt to varied ED sections and maintain a flexible, solution-focused approach
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state-appropriate) required
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ER setting
- Required certifications before start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
- ENPC required within 90 days of hire
- Experience in Level 2 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits) and able to manage varied patient ratios
- Ability to coach colleagues, provide real-time feedback, and work collaboratively
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with Cerner documentation and electronic charting
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring and interpretation using GE monitors
- Familiarity with Baxter infusion pumps and ED-specific equipment
- Strong triage skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient experience focus (AIDET)
- Flexibility to float within ED sections and adapt to changing unit needs
