Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to the nursing team
- Support safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Document care accurately and timely in resident records
- Collaborate with nurses and care team members to deliver person-centered care plans
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent as required by the state
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfort working with older adults and assisting with personal care
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance for scheduled shifts
- Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited GNA program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and common geriatric care needs
- Basic infection control and safe hygiene practices
- Ability to observe, document, and communicate changes in resident status
- Familiarity with bedside manner that emphasizes dignity and respect
- Good time management and ability to handle multiple resident needs
