Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered emergency nursing care in a fast-paced ED setting
- Perform rapid assessment, triage, and stabilization of patients presenting with acute conditions
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, following hospital protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Monitor patient status and interpret clinical data to inform timely interventions
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the medical record
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — eligible to practice in North Carolina (compact license accepted if applicable)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or as required by the facility
- Ability to pass facility onboarding, background checks, and clinical skills validation
- Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and communication skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in emergency assessment, triage, and stabilization
- Proficient in IV therapy, medication administration, and EKG interpretation
- Familiarity with emergency workflows and rapid decision-making under pressure
- Effective teamwork and communication with interdisciplinary care teams
- Accurate clinical documentation and time management in a busy ED environment
- Patient education and family-centered care skills
