Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, helping them feel safe and respected
• Assist with activities of daily living including grooming, bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Monitor and document vital signs and changes in condition with accuracy
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families, and the nursing team
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Accurately complete required documentation and shift handoffs

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (required)
• Current registration or eligibility to practice in Maryland if applicable
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or able to obtain quickly
• Experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings preferred
• Ability to pass background check, health screenings, and immunization requirements
• Reliable transportation for local per-diem shifts

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting older adults with activities of daily living
• Basic clinical skills such as taking vitals and observing changes in condition
• Understanding of infection control and resident safety practices
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Compassionate bedside manner and respect for resident dignity
• Dependable time management and documentation skills
