Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, helping them feel safe and respected
- Assist with activities of daily living including grooming, bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in condition with accuracy
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families, and the nursing team
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
- Accurately complete required documentation and shift handoffs
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (required)
- Current registration or eligibility to practice in Maryland if applicable
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or able to obtain quickly
- Experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings preferred
- Ability to pass background check, health screenings, and immunization requirements
- Reliable transportation for local per-diem shifts
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting older adults with activities of daily living
- Basic clinical skills such as taking vitals and observing changes in condition
- Understanding of infection control and resident safety practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Compassionate bedside manner and respect for resident dignity
- Dependable time management and documentation skills
