Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support mealtime assistance, feeding, and safe meal preparation practices
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through positive communication
Qualifications
- Current GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification
- High school diploma or equivalent (see Education for details)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong communication skills
- Previous experience with geriatric or long-term care residents is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved GNA / Nursing Assistant training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic patient care
- Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
- Comfortable assisting with mobility devices and safe transfer techniques
- Good documentation and reporting habits
- Teamwork mindset and ability to follow care plans and nursing direction
- Sensitivity to the needs of older adults, including cognitive and mobility challenges
