Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting with dignity
• Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in condition promptly
• Support safe transfers and mobility assistance using proper techniques
• Follow individualized care plans and document care accurately and timely
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control policies
• Communicate clearly with the care team and families to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and strong communication skills
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics a plus but not always required

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Knowledge of safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, observing changes in condition, charting
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with residents
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safety protocols
• Ability to follow care plans and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
