Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, treating each person with dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, eating, mobility) in a safe manner
• Monitor residents' condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
• Document care accurately and thoroughly in resident records
• Support a calm, comfortable environment and encourage social engagement and independence
• Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
• Communicate effectively with teammates and families to coordinate care and provide updates

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• State-required clearances and immunizations as applicable (background check, TB test, etc.)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working with older adults and those with chronic conditions or mobility needs
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and a team-focused attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Infection control and universal precautions
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
