Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Support safe mobility and transfers using appropriate body mechanics and equipment
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team
- Document care activities clearly and accurately in the resident chart
- Help create a comfortable, respectful living environment that promotes dignity
- Follow infection control practices and facility policies to keep residents safe
- Participate in team communication and shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Valid GNA certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- Ability to pass background check and health screenings (TB, immunizations) as required
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting their emotional and physical needs
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a care team
- Reliable transportation for per-diem shift coverage in the Baltimore area
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related conditions
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic resident hygiene needs
- Familiarity with safe transfer techniques and use of mobility aids
- Basic documentation and charting skills; attention to detail
- Ability to observe, prioritize, and report resident changes effectively
- Teamwork mindset and a warm, patient-centered approach
