Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure comfort during resident dining
• Maintain accurate documentation of care and observations in resident records
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families to enhance quality of life

Qualifications

• Valid GNA/GNA-equivalent certification as required by Maryland
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable working night shift hours and adaptable to per diem scheduling
• Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with older adults
• Clear background check and up-to-date health screenings as required by facility
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and infection control
• Ability to safely assist with transfers and mobility using proper body mechanics
• Familiarity with documentation practices and following care plans
• Observational skills to notice changes in behavior or health
• Good interpersonal skills to engage residents and support family interactions
• Time management skills to prioritize resident needs during shifts
