Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert assessment and treatment for patients with respiratory insufficiency, asthma, pneumonia and COPD
- Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators including Servo I, Hamilton, V60 and Astral
- Deliver non-invasive ventilation therapies such as CPAP and BiPAP and titrate settings per patient needs
- Perform ABG sampling and analysis to guide respiratory interventions
- Respond to codes and emergency situations using BLS/ACLS protocols
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
- Document assessments, treatments and patient responses accurately in the EMR (Meditech)
- Participate in unit quality initiatives and support best practices in respiratory care
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of current acute care hospital RRT experience (explicit requirement)
- Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts
- Trauma experience preferred
- Meditech EMR experience preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong mechanical ventilator management skills (Servo I, Hamilton, V60, Astral)
- Proficient with non-invasive ventilation (CPAP, BiPAP) and airway management
- ABG analysis and interpretation
- CPT therapy and respiratory treatment modalities
- Excellent patient assessment, clinical judgment and critical thinking
- Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Familiarity with Meditech or similar EMR systems
