Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac telemetry and act quickly on abnormal rhythms to keep patients safe
• Administer and manage IV medications and drips per protocol with precise documentation
• Provide focused post-operative surgical care including vital sign assessments and wound monitoring
• Manage respiratory support such as BiPAP/CPAP and escalate care when needed
• Perform frequent patient assessments and triage changes in condition
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and update individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about recovery, medications, and discharge plans with empathy

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Texas or compact) preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience (PCU/telemetry or med-surg experience welcome)
• Current ACLS and BLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) competency required
• Strong customer service and communication skills; team player who adapts to change
• Experience with Meditech is a plus
• Trauma and orthopedic experience is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• IV medication and drip management (Heparin, amiodarone, dobutamine, etc.)
• Post-op surgical and trauma care including PACU transition criteria
• Vital signs assessment and frequent patient reassessment (Q4 patient assessment)
• Familiarity with BiPAP/CPAP and respiratory distress management
• Working knowledge of Meditech EMR workflows
• Ability to handle a fast-paced Level 2 trauma center environment with professionalism
