Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Take and record vital signs, reporting any changes to the nursing team promptly
- Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in social activities
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Document care accurately and communicate effectively with nurses and family members
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and required screenings
- Comfortable working with older adults and a compassionate bedside manner
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow care plans and supervisor direction
Education
- High school diploma or GED; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with ADLs (activities of daily living) and resident-centered care
- Basic vital signs measurement and charting skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of infection control and basic safety procedures
- Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
- Empathy, patience, and a calm approach in high-needs situations
