Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily living assistance to geriatric residents
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor resident well-being and promptly report changes to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and use of assistive devices following care plans
- Document care provided accurately and maintain resident confidentiality
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families to enhance comfort
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent state-recognized nursing assistant credential
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated compassion and patience working with older adults
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate effectively with the team
- Comfort with standing, lifting, and assisting residents as required
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and resident safety
- Skillful in personal care tasks and respectful resident interactions
- Basic charting/documentation skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Awareness of infection control and safe handling practices
