Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate for orthopedic and podiatry cases, ensuring optimal patient safety and sterile technique
• Prepare and set up operating rooms and instrumentation for total joint and arthroscopic procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology, and OR techs to coordinate efficient case flow
• Document perioperative care accurately in EPIC and complete required charting in a timely manner
• Respond to weeknight and weekend call assignments within the 30-minute response window
• Support unit staffing by floating within Zone 1 when extreme needs arise
• Participate in unit orientation and mandatory safety training to maintain competency

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit license) — must be available for in-state orientation week
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (perioperative/OR experience strongly preferred)
• Circulating orthopedics experience required; total joint and scope familiarity a plus
• EPIC charting experience required
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet a 60-mile radius requirement (DL must be submitted)
• Willingness to take department-based scheduling and participate in on-call rotations

Education

• Active RN license required (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and OR workflows
• Orthopedic and podiatry case types (shoulders, knees, hips, hip scopes)
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records and perioperative documentation
• Ability to circulate efficiently and collaborate with scrub techs and surgeons
• Time management skills to prepare rooms, receive next-day assignments by mid-afternoon, and support case turnover
• Comfort with block scheduling and variable room start times (7:00 AM–7:30 AM)
