Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and specialty equipment for orthopedic, neuro, robotic, vascular, urology and gynecologic cases
• Assist surgeons during procedures with impeccable sterile technique and precise instrument handling
• Set up and operate robotic platforms and specialty devices safely and efficiently
• Perform instrument counts, track sterility, and manage turnover to maintain patient safety and case flow
• Collaborate proactively with nurses, anesthesia, and surgeons to anticipate needs and streamline procedures
• Respond professionally and quickly during on-call activations and urgent surgical situations

Qualifications

• Experience with Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Robotic systems, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, Urology and Gynecologic technology (GyneTech) — this is required
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred; CNOR a plus
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS preferred if available
• Comfortable participating in an on-call rotation and flexible scheduling
• Current state licensure or ability to obtain Illinois licensure and up-to-date immunizations

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile processing, instrument handling, and OR protocols
• Familiarity with robotic surgical platforms and specialty instrumentation
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and prioritize under pressure
• Excellent communication and teamwork in a fast-paced perioperative environment
• Proficiency in instrument counts, turnover procedures, and basic equipment troubleshooting
