Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess maternal and fetal status and intervene promptly to ensure safe labor and delivery outcomes
• Monitor labor progress and electronic fetal monitoring, escalating concerns to providers when needed
• Provide evidence-based nursing care during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum periods
• Perform neonatal stabilization and initial assessment in collaboration with the newborn team
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, procedures, and postpartum care in a compassionate way
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and ancillary staff to coordinate safe care
• Participate in Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and demonstrate ongoing skill proficiency

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (RN) — ability to verify licensure required
• BLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity specialty competency testing
• Current immunizations and health screening per facility policy (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, influenza, TB screening, physical/health statement)
• Successful Trinity 10 panel drug screen and color vision testing

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN)
• Active RN licensure in Ohio

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of labor and delivery processes and maternal/newborn care
• Proficiency with fetal monitoring interpretation and fetal surveillance
• Neonatal resuscitation skills and comfort supporting immediate newborn care
• Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking during emergent situations
• Clear communication and teamwork across interdisciplinary teams
• Comfort with unit-specific competency programs and hospital documentation systems
