Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients quickly and accurately in a high-acuity setting
• Provide evidence-based emergency care, including medication administration and procedural support
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the ED team to coordinate patient care
• Perform focused neurological assessments using NIHSS when indicated
• Maintain clear, timely documentation and complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists
• Support patient and family education with empathy and clear communication
• Participate in unit-specific safety and quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse license (state of Iowa) required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
• License/certificate verification required prior to start
• Weekend availability: must be able to work Friday, Saturday, Sunday
• Ability to complete required health screenings: TB/IGRA, immunizations, drug screen, fit test, and physical/health statement

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing and patient assessment skills
• Proficiency with trauma and acute care protocols
• Competence in advanced cardiac and pediatric life support (ACLS, PALS)
• Skilled in NIHSS neurological assessment
• Excellent critical thinking, multitasking, and communication skills
• Comfortable with competency testing and skills validation processes
