Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide individualized nutrition assessments and develop evidence-based care plans
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary clinical teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Conduct nutrition education and counseling for patients and facility staff
• Monitor and document patient progress and modify plans as needed
• Ensure compliance with facility policies and regulatory nutrition standards
• Support menu reviews and therapeutic diet implementation for the population served

Qualifications

• Current Registered Dietitian credential (RD or RDN) required
• State licensure or ability to obtain required California credentials
• Experience in clinical dietetics or institutional foodservice; correctional healthcare experience a plus
• Ability to pass required background/security clearances for work at a correctional facility
• Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (ACEND-accredited program preferred)
• Completion of supervised practice (internship) and successful RD/RDN registration

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid clinical nutrition assessment and care planning skills
• Familiarity with therapeutic diets and documentation best practices
• Comfort working in institutional or correctional healthcare settings
• Ability to educate and influence patients and staff with clarity and compassion
• Proficiency with electronic health records and basic office software
