Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered oncology and telemetry nursing care to a 32-bed acute Tele Oncology unit
• Assess, monitor and interpret EKGs and cardiac telemetry data to keep patients safe
• Perform and maintain competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes using strict sterile technique
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including RT, pharmacy and SWAT IV team to coordinate patient care
• Serve as an oncology resource RN and take light charge nurse responsibilities when required
• Follow Cerner charting standards for accurate, timely documentation
• Participate in required SIMs Lab and pass orientation assessments to ensure clinical competency

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (able to submit license; facility indicated willingness to wait if needed)
• BLS and ACLS certification (required)
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience (per job details)
• Telemetry experience with demonstrated EKG interpretation skills
• Oncology nursing experience strongly preferred; chemo certification is a plus
• Competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line care (SIMs Lab pass required)
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record
• Ability to pass the facility DYS exam prior to acceptance and required orientation assessments
• Travel nurses must have their own vehicle and meet facility appearance/fit-test requirements

• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Acute oncology care and chemo patient management
• Cerner EMR documentation
• Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change techniques
• Strict sterile technique and infection control practices
• IV access and collaboration with SWAT/IV teams
• Wound care and restraint/lift procedures
• Charge nurse experience and the ability to float to MedSurg/Tele units
