Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, perioperative patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions
• Maintain sterile fields and apply aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures
• Prepare and handle surgical supplies and instruments, ensuring proper counts and sterilization
• Safely administer medications and IV therapy, and perform accurate medication reconciliation
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, clinical coordinators, and techs to ensure patient safety
• Document thoroughly and timely all relevant patient data, interventions, and responses
• Respond immediately and appropriately in emergency situations to protect patient well-being
• Educate patients and families on perioperative care and discharge planning to support recovery
• Act as a mentor/preceptor when needed, promoting learning and professional development
• Identify and report incidents and safety risks, supporting continuous quality improvement

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts RN license required
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• O.R. nursing experience required; CNOR strongly preferred
• BLS required upon hire; ACLS (AHA) required upon hire or obtained within 60 days
• Proven ability to multitask and perform in environments with competing priorities
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, can-do attitude
• Experience with sponge/needle/instrument counts and perioperative documentation
• Prior experience as a preceptor/instructor/trainer is a plus

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
