Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake and collect vital signs accurately and compassionately
• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during clinical procedures
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in the patient record
• Administer routine clinical tasks within scope, such as medication administration and basic wound care as allowed
• Coordinate patient flow and help manage clinic logistics for smooth operations
• Support infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team to ensure excellent patient experience
• Participate in the two-week training to get up to speed quickly and confidently

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certification or state-recognized equivalent preferred
• Previous experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred; new grads with clinical training are welcome
• Willingness to complete the provided two-week on-site training
• Comfort working in a correctional facility environment and ability to meet facility clearance requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Medical Assistant diploma or certificate program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in taking and documenting vital signs and basic clinical assessments
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Records and accurate charting
• Skills in specimen collection, phlebotomy basics, and specimen handling
• Understanding of infection control procedures and patient safety principles
• Solid interpersonal skills for patient interaction and team collaboration
• Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality best practices
