Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care for laboring patients and their families during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, including fetal heart tracings and maternal vital signs, and escalate concerns promptly
• Perform neonatal support including Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) as needed in the delivery room
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiology, pediatric/neonatal teams and unit staff to coordinate safe, timely care
• Document clinical findings, interventions and patient education accurately and professionally
• Educate and support birthing people and families through labor, birth plans, breastfeeding initiation and postpartum care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (license/certificate verification required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• NIHSS familiarity or certification as indicated
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Ability to work night shift hours and provide compassionate, high-quality care
• Successful completion of required health screenings and immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA) and drug/vision testing

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor and delivery clinical practice and bedside maternal care
• Proficient in fetal monitoring and recognizing signs of fetal/maternal compromise
• Neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and immediate newborn care skills
• Strong clinical documentation and communication with interdisciplinary teams
• Comfortable completing Trinity-specific competency testing and unit-focused checklists
• Adherence to infection control, fit testing, and occupational health requirements
