Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor respiratory status, employing critical thinking to adjust care as needed
• Manage ventilators and advanced airway devices to support acute and critical patients
• Administer respiratory therapies and aerosol treatments safely and effectively
• Perform and interpret arterial blood gases and other respiratory diagnostics
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team for coordinated care
• Provide patient and family education on respiratory care, disease management, and equipment
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses accurately in the medical record

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist licensure in Virginia or eligibility to obtain licensure quickly
• CRT or RRT credential preferred (bring your skills — we’ll help with any licensure logistics)
• Clinical experience in acute care or hospital respiratory therapy preferred
• Current BLS certification; ACLS/PALS as required or preferred by facility
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in fast-paced teams

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent from an accredited program (BS/BSRT preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Competence with mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• Skilled in airway management, oxygen therapy, and aerosol delivery
• Ability to perform and interpret ABGs and troubleshoot respiratory equipment
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Critical thinking, situational awareness, and teamwork under pressure
