Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on patient care and clinical support with compassion and professionalism
• Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and clinical observations accurately
• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures
• Collect and label specimens, maintain accurate records and support continuity of care
• Follow strict security and facility protocols while working in a correctional setting
• Communicate clearly with patients and team members to promote safe, efficient care

Qualifications

• Current CMA credential (Certified Medical Assistant) required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Comfort and experience working in secure or correctional environments is a strong plus
• Ability to pass required background checks and comply with facility security rules
• Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and reliability for a fast-paced assignment

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
• CMA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in taking vitals, triage basics, and clinical documentation
• Familiarity with specimen collection and infection control practices
• Comfortable using electronic health records and basic clinical software
• Clear, respectful communication and de-escalation skills for challenging situations
• Understanding of patient privacy (HIPAA) and facility security procedures
