Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients thoroughly and collect comprehensive clinical data to guide care
• Analyze assessment data to identify diagnoses and prioritize interventions
• Develop individualized plans of care with clear, attainable outcomes
• Implement evidence-based nursing interventions and coordinate multidisciplinary care
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Promote a safe environment and adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and stroke/trauma guidelines
• Participate in ongoing quality improvement, professional development, and required education
• Provide leadership in the clinical setting and mentor peers when appropriate

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN licensure (required)
• American Heart Association BLS and ACLS (required)
• NIH Stroke Scale certification (required)
• PALS or ENPC certification (required)
• Trauma Nursing Care Coordinator certification (required)
• Competence in and willingness to practice modified primary nursing
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred)
• Preferred: 1 year emergency nursing or critical care experience
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends, and occasional on-call

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred); active Montana RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and care planning with strong clinical judgment
• Stroke care and hyper-acute stroke protocol familiarity
• Trauma care principles and trauma-related continuing education
• Triage skills and rapid decision making in high-acuity situations
• Patient and family education with clear communication
• Teamwork, leadership, and collaboration across disciplines
• Critical thinking and problem-solving under pressure
• Comfort with DNV and hospital registry requirements and documentation standards
