Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the CVOR environment
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Prepare patients, equipment, and the operating room for cardiac and vascular procedures
• Perform intraoperative monitoring and assist with hemodynamic assessments
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure surgical instrumentation readiness
• Document patient care, handoffs, and post-operative instructions clearly and promptly
• Participate in unit-based competency evaluations and required specialty exams

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with Nursys verification
• CVOR experience or strong perioperative/surgical nursing background preferred
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam as part of onboarding
• Ability to complete health and safety requirements: fit test, drug screen, immunizations, TB testing, and physical/health statement

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative and operating room protocols specific to cardiac and vascular procedures
• Sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and instrument handling
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation during operative cases
• Strong communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Ability to prioritize and respond quickly in critical situations
• Familiarity with unit-specific documentation and patient handoff best practices
