Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist clinicians with patient intake, vitals, and focused clinical assessments to support high-quality care
• Prepare patients and rooms for exams and procedures while maintaining a clean, safe environment
• Collect and process specimens, administer routine tests, and document results accurately in the patient record
• Administer medications and assist with medication distribution under provider direction in a correctional health setting
• Maintain clear, timely electronic documentation and communicate relevant findings to the care team
• Support clinic flow by triaging patients, coordinating care, and helping prioritize urgent needs
• Follow infection control and safety protocols while collaborating with security staff as needed in the facility

Qualifications

• Current Medical Assistant certification or completion of an accredited MA program (Class: MA)
• Clinical experience in ambulatory or correctional settings preferred
• BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Strong communication skills and ability to work professionally in a secure facility environment
• Must be able to complete facility-required background checks and clearances

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Assistant program or certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in taking vitals, wound care basics, and specimen collection
• Comfortable with medication administration and basic clinical procedures
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Effective patient communication and bedside manner, even in challenging situations
• Team-oriented mindset with attention to detail and adherence to protocols
