Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients within a correctional facility
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
• Perform timely assessments and communicate changes in patient condition
• Coordinate care with security staff while maintaining patient dignity
• Participate in admissions, screenings, and sick call as required
• Follow facility protocols for infection control, safety, and contraband prevention

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license — PA license preferred or required
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and in a secure correctional setting
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent documentation skills, and attention to detail
• Willingness to follow strict facility rules (no cell phones or smart watches inside)

Education

• Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program (LPN diploma or certificate)
• Ongoing continuing education as required for licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration and basic wound care
• Patient assessment and vital signs monitoring
• Infection control principles and precautions
• Clear, professional documentation in electronic or paper charts
• De-escalation techniques and working safely with security teams
• Team communication and coordinated patient care
