Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient exams and procedures, ensuring safety and efficiency
• Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints accurately
• Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain supply inventory
• Collect specimens and perform point-of-care testing per protocol
• Administer medications and injections as authorized and document appropriately
• Enter and maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record
• Provide patient education and clear aftercare instructions with empathy
• Collaborate with nursing and custodial teams to ensure secure, professional care in a correctional setting

Qualifications

• Active Medical Assistant certification or completion of an accredited MA program (CMA, RMA or equivalent preferred)
• Current BLS/CPR certification required
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility security clearance requirements
• Comfortable working in a correctional healthcare environment; professionalism and strong boundaries required
• Excellent communication and basic computer/EHR skills
• Previous ambulatory or correctional clinic experience preferred but not required — we welcome motivated learners

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with taking vitals, EKGs, and basic clinical assessments
• Phlebotomy and specimen handling best practices
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation
• Strong infection control and universal precautions knowledge
• Solid interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration
• Ability to follow protocols and maintain patient confidentiality
• Time management and prioritization in a busy clinic setting
• Calm, professional demeanor when working with diverse patient populations

This is a travel assignment based in Corcoran, CA — a Central Valley community with easy access to outdoor escapes.
