Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM (NOC); every other weekend (weekend = Saturday & Sunday); night shift with on-call callback expectation (30 minutes to arrive when called)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality adult critical care nursing for ICU patients (trauma, cardiac, sepsis, stroke, renal failure, respiratory distress)
• Assess, monitor and document patient status using EPIC and GE telemetry/monitor systems
• Titrate drips safely and accurately (cardiac drips, insulin, sedation) and manage medication infusions
• Troubleshoot ventilators and support respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to full ventilator support
• Interpret telemetry strips and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
• Maintain appropriate nurse:patient ratios (typically 1:2-3 for adults) and adapt when floating to PCU/MedSurg
• Collaborate with nursing aides, RTs and physicians to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
• Complete unit-specific orientation and demonstrate competency (pass required orientation exam)

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit) required
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (ICU experience highly preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
• Valid driver's license required at submittal (radius rule applies)
• Comfortable using EPIC for charting and GE telemetry/monitor systems
• Able to titrate drips and troubleshoot ventilators independently
• Willingness to float to PCU/MedSurg as needed and meet holiday/weekend requirements
• Must complete orientation and achieve the required pass score on the open-book exam (90%)

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN: not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and intervention skills
• Proficient in EPIC charting and documentation
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring expertise (GE monitors)
• Drip titration and infusion management
• Ventilator troubleshooting and basic respiratory support knowledge (High Flow/CPAP/BiPAP)
• Trauma, cardiac, stroke and sepsis care experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment and prioritize effectively
• Team communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
