Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care for primarily oncology patients (approximately 85%) and telemetry/med-surg patients (approximately 15%)
• Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret EKGs to identify and act on arrhythmias and other cardiac events
• Perform and maintain competency in sterile procedures, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (SIMs Lab required)
• Administer oncology-related care safely and accurately; support chemo administration when certified
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, pharmacy, hospitalists and SWAT IV team to coordinate patient care
• Serve as charge nurse with light patient assignment when scheduled; act as oncology resource RN as needed
• Document clinical assessments, interventions and care plans clearly and promptly in Cerner
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans to support recovery and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit; facility indicated willingness to wait)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Oncology/chemo certification is a strong plus
• Competency in telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Demonstrated sterile technique and competency with Foley catheter insertion and central line care (SIMs Lab pass required)
• Comfort with bedside vents (BiPAP/CPAP) and working alongside respiratory therapy
• Professional appearance guidelines required (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing)
• Reliable transportation for travel teams and adherence to the 50-mile radius requirement

Education

• Active RN license required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and Phillips telemetry system experience
• Oncology nursing knowledge and safe administration practices
• EKG rhythm recognition and interpretation
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
• IV insertion skills and familiarity with IV team escalation for difficult sticks
• Strong sterile technique and central line/port-a-cath care
• Wound care, patient lifts, and restraint protocols
• Effective patient education, communication and teamwork skills
