Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist in operative procedures, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety at every step
• Prepare and maintain case carts according to preference cards and the day's schedule
• Coordinate instrument flow and sterile processing communication for scheduled and unscheduled cases
• Verify equipment functionality and readiness prior to procedures to minimize delays
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, RN staff, SPD, and materials management to optimize case turnover
• Manage core phone and intra-department communications; delegate and coordinate breaks and coverage
• Serve as a resource for SPD and Surgical Services on supply and instrumentation needs
• Document and comply with DNV, Bozeman Health policy, and registry education requirements

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (required)
• American Heart Association BLS (required)
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program (required)
• Preferred: 1 year of surgical technologist experience in an acute care operating room
• Ability to work varied shifts, respond to on-call requests, and maintain professional demeanor under stress
• Strong teamwork, communication, and prioritization skills

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in surgical and aseptic technique
• Strong understanding of human anatomy and common surgical procedures
• Instrument setup, sterilization, and handling best practices
• Familiarity with preference cards and case cart preparation
• Knowledge of bloodborne pathogen precautions and radiation safety
• Ability to coordinate with sterile processing and materials management
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and decision-making ability
