Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care nursing for complex neuro patients, including post-op cranial and spine cases
• Perform focused neuro assessments and manage intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
• Manage ventilators and coordinate respiratory care with RT 24/7
• Care for EVDs and other neurosurgical devices with strict sterile technique
• Perform central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertions (SIMs Lab competency required)
• Respond to Level 1 trauma activations and deliver trauma-level critical care
• Document thoroughly in Cerner EMR and collaborate with pharmacy and multi-disciplinary teams
• Float between ICU and Tele units as needed while maintaining safe, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license (willing to wait for license to submit in some cases)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 18 months Neuro ICU experience; manager will consider candidates with under 2 years if neuro ICU experience is 18 months
• Level 1 trauma experience and EVD (External Ventricular Drain) experience required
• Strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience
• Comfortable with ventilator management and critical care equipment (Phillips monitors)
• Ability to pass required facility exams prior to or during orientation (DYS exam; SIMs Lab pass/fail)
• Willingness to float between units and adapt to varied patient types and workloads
• Professional appearance and fit-test requirements: natural hair color, no facial piercings, males clean-shaven for fit test
