Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) across the SEARHC system
• Prepare and submit timely NHSN and regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with CMS, CDC, OSHA, TJC, and other agencies
• Develop, implement, and maintain the Infection Prevention & Control Plan and associated policies and procedures
• Design and deliver infection prevention education and training for staff, patients, families, and communities
• Serve as chair of the IPC committee and provide oversight for the Employee Health program
• Collect, trend, and report infection control data; translate findings into actionable improvements
• Travel to regional sites to assess practices, provide training, and support local teams

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (Alaska or other U.S. state). Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date; agency staff must have an active Alaska license
• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar) required; Master's (MPH, MSN) preferred
• Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required
• BLS current within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually
• Minimum 3 years acute care/infection control experience and/or experience with data collection and performance improvement/risk management
• Clinical and Manager Competency assessments to be completed within 3 months of hire

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field required
• Master's degree (MPH, MSN) preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent (baseline requirement)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of epidemiology and infectious disease principles
• Experience with data collection, analysis, trending, and basic statistics
• Familiarity with NHSN reporting and regulatory requirements (CMS, CDC, OSHA, TJC)
• Proficiency with MS Office and database applications; accurate and timely data entry skills
• Ability to synthesize regulatory guidance into policy and staff education
• Effective communicator across multicultural settings; strong team and independent work skills
• Project management and performance improvement methodology experience
