Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide thorough peri-operative nursing care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, evaluate
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure safe, efficient procedures
• Direct and guide OR technicians and other personnel to maintain high standards of care
• Manage operating room workflow and patient flow to support timely surgical services
• Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and unit procedures to protect patients and staff
• Participate in performance improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-service education
• Serve as a clinical resource for colleagues and assist with unit organization and maintenance

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with Nursys verification
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Experience in perioperative or operating room nursing preferred
• Comfortable providing care across the lifespan: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults
• Willingness to participate in on-call scheduling and performance improvement initiatives
• Ability to complete Prime skills/exams and required testing as part of credentialing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
• Peri-operative patient care best practices and sterile technique
• Care coordination with surgical and anesthesia teams
• Familiarity with OR workflow, patient flow, and perioperative safety protocols
• Knowledge of hospital regulatory standards and policy adherence
• Ability to mentor and direct OR technicians and other support staff
• Competency in rhythm interpretation, pharmacology basics, and core perioperative skills
