Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality orthopedic nursing care to post-op and medical-surgical patients
• Perform wound care including dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and Wound VAC maintenance
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tubes safely and according to protocol
• Document patient assessments and interventions accurately in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Monitor vitals and use unit equipment (bladder scanners, lifts, CPMs) to support safe mobility
• Advocate for patients and educate them and their families on post-op care and recovery

Qualifications

• Active NC Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (as listed in the posting)
• Prior hospital experience preferred; orthopedic experience a plus
• Comfortable with wound care, Foley and NG tube management, and Wound VAC care
• Team player mindset with ability to adapt in a fast-paced unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation and charting
• Strong wound care skills including dressing changes and VAC maintenance
• Experience with Foley catheter and NG tube care
• Familiarity with common ortho equipment: walkers, CPM, patient lifts and mobility aids
• Ability to manage typical med-surg/ortho patient ratios and prioritize care
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
