Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor PCU patients, interpreting telemetry and clinical data to keep patients safe
• Administer medications and IV therapies accurately, following hospital protocol
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns to the interdisciplinary team
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other nurses to create and adjust care plans
• Document patient care clearly and timely in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care
• Prioritize and manage a caseload efficiently during high-acuity night shifts

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license or eligibility for Texas licensure (compact license holders often accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (experience in PCU/telemetry or acute care preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork abilities
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility health requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV medication administration and titration
• Comprehensive patient assessment and care prioritization
• Familiarity with electronic health records and timely documentation
• Critical thinking during acute events and effective escalation
• Patient and family education with empathy and clarity
