Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based orthopedic nursing care to post-op and surgical patients
• Assess patients regularly, monitor vital signs and respond promptly to changes
• Administer medications and manage pain control per provider orders and protocols
• Coordinate discharge planning and patient education for safe transitions home
• Collaborate with surgeons, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Document timely and accurate patient information in the electronic health record
• Advocate for patient safety and comfort while maintaining high standards of infection control

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (able to work in North Carolina or hold compact licensure as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (as indicated in the job posting)
• Experience or strong interest in orthopedic surgery and post-operative care
• Current BLS certification (additional certifications such as ACLS or specialty certifications a plus)
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on overnight shifts and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of orthopedic post-operative care, wound management and mobility precautions
• Skilled in medication administration, pain management and patient assessment
• Comfortable with electronic health record documentation and clinical workflows
• Strong communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced surgical environment
